SEMARANG - Central Java Regional Police encourage all parties to play a greater role in providing legal understanding to teenagers and minors.

The Deputy Chief of the Central Java Police, Brigadier General Abioso Senoaji, suspected that the lack of legal understanding was the cause of the high number of minors involved in criminal acts.

"The role of all parties, especially parents, is needed to provide understanding to these children. Even when they are at home they show positive behavior. But when they leave the house their behavior can change," said the Deputy Chief of Police, in a written statement, Wednesday, August 10.

The change in adolescent behavior, he said, was caused by many factors such as friends and the environment.

"Minors and teenagers are the future of the nation, but if many of them are involved in criminal acts, where will this nation be taken," he continued.

Furthermore, Abioso Senoaji highlighted the effect of alcohol on teenagers when they commit a crime.

"When they are in a drunken state, the flow of thought becomes disrupted. For things like this (alcohol) supervision of teenagers needs to be improved. If they are still in school, the role of the teacher must be more visible," he added.

As an affirmation, the Deputy Chief of Police stated that his party would take firm action against the circulation of liquor in Central Java.

"I ordered all ranks to suppress the circulation of alcohol, whether it's the location, place, or if any, liquor factories," he said.

In a press conference held at the Central Java Police Headquarters, there were four major cases presented by the Deputy Chief of Police.

Among these cases, 9 teenagers were named as suspects in criminal acts. One minor with the initials IL (15) is a suspect in the murder case of a 13-year-old junior high school student in Grabag, Magelang on Wednesday, August 3.

Meanwhile, 8 teenagers became perpetrators of criminal acts in the city of Semarang. Teens with the initials DC (17), ASN (22), RWS (20), AWW (16), and MAAZ (19) became the perpetrators of stabbing a Pontianak resident on Dr. Cipto Street Semarang on Sunday, July 31.

Meanwhile, teenagers with the initials SF (17), IS (15) and MPWS (16) became suspects in the stabbing of three minors on Suratmo Street, also at the end of last July.
