BINTAN - Firefighters (Damkar) in Bintan Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri) caught a python that preyed on residents' chickens in the East Bintan District.

"We received information on the initial incident from the Sei Lekop Village this morning," said Head of the Technical Service Unit of the East Bintan Fire Service (UPTD) Nurwendi as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 10.

After that, he said, the East Bintan Fire Rescue Team immediately went to the scene of the incident to carry out the evacuation process.

It turned out that the python had entered a chicken coop belonging to a Srikusuma resident, precisely in Kampung Jawa, Sei Lekop Village, East Bintan District.

"The snake managed to prey on a chicken in the cage, then it couldn't move because it was full," he said.

In the condition that the snake could not move, he continued, the rescue team immediately tried to catch it using existing equipment.

Finally, the reptile animal was caught in about 30 minutes.

"This snake had rebelled when it was about to be caught, especially in its body position wrapped around the chicken coop," he said.

After being caught, the python was released into its natural habitat. These venomous animals come out of the wilderness behind the houses of local residents because they are hungry and want to find food.

Nurwendi appealed to residents to immediately report to the Fire Station if they found venomous animals in their neighborhood.

"Our officers have the expertise and are ready to help evacuate venomous animals, such as snakes. Residents should not evacuate themselves, because it is very dangerous and can even threaten life," he emphasized.
