Mahfud MD Highlights For Silence In Responding To Brigadier J's Case, Commission III Of DPR Self Defense: Avoiding Offsides, But We'll Watch

JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR responded to the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Human Rights (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD who highlighted the silence of DPR members regarding the shooting case of Brigadier Nopryansah Yoshua Hutabarat alias Brigadier J at Inspector General Ferdy Sambo's halfway house.

Member of Commission III of the DPR Arsul Sani revealed the reason for the DPR to be more silent. According to him, that right because he didn't want to be offside in commenting. Because he said, the process of investigating Brigadier J's death is still ongoing.

"We in the House of Representatives avoid being offside," said Arsul at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 9.

Arsul then mentioned that there was an official who said there was a new suspect in the case. In fact, the one with the authority to make an announcement is the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

"For example, the one authorized to announce the suspect is the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police, there should also be other officials who say there is a third suspect," said Arsul.

The DPR member from the PPP faction also emphasized that the silence of the DPR does not mean that it is not working. According to him, the commission in charge of law is still supervising the investigation into the death of Brigadier J.

"On certain occasions, of course we convey and what we convey we usually invite so that we can control it," explained Arsul.

"What we are doing is in the framework of guarding and supervising but also not dictating like that, because it also gives the impression that we do not trust our Police. I think that is the common awareness of all state institutions and officials," he added.
