Mahfud MD: The Initial Scenario Of Brigadier J's Death Has Been Reversed, There Used To Be Shootings, Now Murders

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said the scenario for the death of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yoshua Hutabarat or Brigadier J had begun to be revealed.

"Thanks to all of you (the media), thanks to NGOs, thanks to the seriousness of the Police, thanks to the President's firm direction, which used to be reversed. Previously there was shooting, now there is 'no' shooting, now there is murder," he said. Mahfud MD when met at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta was reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 8.

Mahfud explained that the investigation into the suspected premeditated murder case against Brigadier J was considered fast, considering that the case had a code of silence.

So far, the police have named two suspects, namely Bharada E, as a suspect in the murder case against Brigadier J which occurred at Inspector General Ferdy Sambo's house. Bharada E was charged with Article 338 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 56 of the Criminal Code.

Then, the National Police also named a new suspect, Brigadier Ricky Rizal (RR), who is an aide to Ferdy Sambo's wife, Putri Candrawati.

Against Brigadier RR, the police charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code related to the premeditated murder of Brigadier Joshua.

Mahfud believes that the determination of the suspect will also lead to the role of Bharada E and Brigadier RR, as well as other suspects as suspected executioners or intellectuals.

Mahfud emphasized that the President requested that the disclosure of the alleged murder of Brigadier J be completed as soon as possible.

The former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court also denied the opinion that the Police took too long in revealing and identifying suspects, as well as investigating the case of Brigadier J, considering the possibility of the case becoming a "dark number case" if there was no escort from the media and NGOs.

"In the past, if there was no change, there might have been a 'dark number', a case where there was no culprit. This is where the perpetrators already exist, the victims are clear...you just have to hunt them down and then give a clear legal construction," said Mahfud.
