JAKARTA - The Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) has handed over all responsibility for the collapse of the Mampang Sports Building (GOR) wall, South Jakarta, which killed two project workers.

Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Dispora Rusdiyanto said that the contractor in this case was the winner of the auction for the building work at the Mampang GOR. However, Rusdiyanto did not mention who the construction company was.

"So, the victims are workers from third parties who won the auction. So, this is the company's obligation," said Rusdiyanto when contacted, Friday, August 5.

RUSdiyanto explained, initially the DKI Provincial Government planned to carry out a total revitalization of the Mampang GOR. Prior to the revitalization, the assets of the Mampang GOR were written off by the Regional Asset Management Agency (BPAD).

Furthermore, BPAD conducted an open auction and resulted in one construction company as the winner of the tender. During the demolition of the building before it was rebuilt, the incident of the wall collapsing occurred.

"Local government goods, through the process of applicable laws and regulations, must be abolished. That means the building is sold at auction. So, actually (Dispora's responsibility for building) has been cut off," said Rusdiyanto.

"Regarding whether there was an omission in the implementation, this is the domain of the contractor who won the auction. Now, when the new building is done, this is only the Dispora phase (responsibility)," he added.

For information, two project workers with the initials AJ (48) and IN (23) died when the ruins of the Mampang GOR building which was being worked on on Sunday, July 31, afternoon, fell. The Mampang Prapatan GOR building is being demolished to remove assets, before being revitalized by rebuilding it.

The case of the collapse of the building wall causing fatalities is included in the investigation of the Mampang Police. The Mampang Prapatan Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Kanit), AKP Budi Laksono, said that his party had examined six workers and the foreman who was a witness in the incident.
