Floods In Torue Make Many Students Without School Clothes, Regency Government Sends 179 New Uniforms

JAKARTA - Parigi Moutong Regency Government, Central Sulawesi handed over 179 school uniforms to students affected by flash floods in Torue Village.

"After the flood, many children lost their school clothes. The government took the initiative to help meet the needs of supporting educational activities," said Parigi District Inspector Moutong Arudin Nur after the handing over of school uniforms in Torue, Friday, August 5, quoted from Antara.

"According to information from the Education Office, the uniforms provided by the local government are still white-red uniforms for elementary school students, will follow batik uniforms and sports uniforms," he added.

Secretary of the Education and Culture Office of Parigi Regency, Moutong Sunarti, said that the local government provided 179 school uniforms for students in grades I to VI of SD Torue.

Flash floods not only caused damage to settlements but also damaged educational facilities in Torue Village.

"The teaching and learning activities had stopped for seven days, and on the eighth day after the flood, educational activities began to take place," said Adrudin.

Sunarti said that the Education and Culture Office had recorded schools whose buildings were damaged by the flood.

"Five schools were affected by the flood. We will convey this data to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for follow-up," he said.
