JAKARTA - The revitalization of the Old City has not yet been completed. The target is that the revitalization of this cultural area will be completed by the end of July. However, the completion was delayed from the target.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency Hari Nugroho said that currently the revitalization of Kota Tua is still 97 percent. Hari admitted, there was an unexpected incident from this work, namely the landslide of the foundation at one of the revitalization points.

"So indeed our target is at the end of July everything is 100 percent. Only 3 percent is finishing. Why is there a delay, there is a kind of landslide. Previously we used shallow foundations, so now they are made into deep foundations," said Hari when contacted, Thursday, August 4th.

This foundation repair eventually made the work take longer, starting from the foundation design to excavating the landslide. In addition, Hari said there were a number of changes to the building design from the planning consultant.

"So, it means that it's not a delay from the contractor or from us, but indeed there are some changes in the plan that do take a little longer. Those are the obstacles," said Hari.

Another thing, there is still the construction of waterways in the area of the former City bus stop for land used by PT KAI. PAM Jaya, said Hari, is still working on the placement of clean water supplies in that location.

"When we unload the area, we automatically have to make a flow. Later if we beat it right there, PT KAI might not get clean water supply. Moving utilities from there will take time, until the PAM clean water is served to PT KAI Including the obstacles in the bus stop area as well," he explained.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has designated the Kota Tua area as a low emission zone (LEZ) which minimizes the mobility of private vehicles across the area. The goal is to reduce air pollution.

Later, the sidewalks in the Kota Tua area will be equipped with street furniture, shade trees, gardens and fountains. In addition, there is also a guiding block that makes this area disability-friendly.
