JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) is preparing a trial scheme in absentia in a case of alleged corruption in the control of oil palm land with the suspect Surya Darmadi as the owner of PT Duta Palma Group.

However, he emphasized, this scheme does not mean the AGO will use Surya Darmadi's repatriation effort as the last step.

However, currently the AGO already has a legally binding decision to extradite the suspect.

"In absentia, it will not be removed later to be able to repatriate him, in fact it already has a decision, the legal force is still stronger, to be able to ask for his extradition," said Febrie.

Based on information from the National Central Bureau (NCB)-Interpol Indonesia, Tuesday (2/8), Surya Darmadi's name has been listed on Interpol's red notice list since August 13, 2020.

Secretary of the NCB-Interpol Indonesia International Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General Amur Chandra said Surya Darmadi's red notice status was active until 2025.

On the previous occasion, the Head of the Attorney General's Center for Legal Information (Kapuspenkum Kejagung) Ketut Sumedana said that his party had properly summoned Surya Darmadi to his address in Indonesia, but he was not present.

"Our efforts, the Indonesian Attorney's Attaché in Singapore, has coordinated with the Singapore Prosecutor's Office to investigate and repatriate the person concerned," said Ketut.
