JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) will form a task force (Satgas) to supervise philanthropic institutions, in the aftermath of the case of embezzlement of funds from the Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) foundation.

Social Minister Tri Rismaharini said the task force would consist of members of the Ministry of Social Affairs, law enforcement officers, officials from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to Interpol.

The task force, said Social Minister Risma, will be formed as soon as possible in mid-August 2022. "This must be done quickly. This is more important and cannot be postponed," said Social Minister Risma when met in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, July 28.

Social Minister Risma acknowledged that the Ministry of Social's supervision of philanthropic institutions was still weak, so it was deemed necessary to prepare a team for monitoring.

Social Minister Risma emphasized that instead of revising Law 9 of 1961 concerning the Collection of Money and Goods (UU PUB), her party prioritized providing monitoring tools, or supervisory officers.

"If changing the law takes time, what is needed most quickly is a tool on how to monitor it," said Risma.

Social Minister Risma admitted that she had warned ACT officials from the start as Minister of Social Affairs, because of donations abroad. He has written warning letters to reprimands against the ACT foundation. Social Minister Risma appealed to philanthropic institutions to act according to the rules, because it involves the trust of aid providers.
