SEMARANG - Central Java is a favorite province for entrepreneurs from Taiwan to invest in various sectors.

"In the first quarter of this year, Central Java has become the first favorite province for Taiwanese entrepreneurs," said Head of the Taiwan Economic and Trade Representative Office John Chen after meeting Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo in Semarang, Antara, Tuesday, July 26.

Chen revealed that entrepreneurs in Taiwan who communicated with his office said that the investment climate in Central Java was currently very good and smooth.

According to them, he continued, this happened after the Central Java Province was led by Governor Ganjar Pranowo.

"Under the leadership of Governor Ganjar everything is better and smoother to be able to invest in Central Java for Taiwanese entrepreneurs," he said.

During the meeting, Chen also brought a number of entrepreneurs who would invest in Central Java, including PT Pou Chen, which produces footwear. He hopes that in the future more modern industries such as technology, engineering, electronics from Taiwan will come to invest in Central Java.

"We hope that in the next 2-3 years the total investment will be more than double the 20 years, from 1990-2022," he said.

In addition, Chen also said that he would strengthen cooperation, one of which is cooperation in training workers and human resources in Central Java so that they can develop and work in Taiwanese companies.

Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo welcomed the arrival of John Chen and his entourage because currently Taiwan ranks as the seventh largest investor in Central Java.

Some of the companies are located in Semarang City, Jepara Regency and most are in Kendal Regency.

"I am happy that the trade delegation from Taiwan appreciates the conduciveness, also appreciates the business relations between investors and the government, between workers and entrepreneurs, which can encourage people to feel comfortable investing," he said.

Ganjar also appreciates the good intentions of Taiwanese companies in Central Java who have shared knowledge with the workforce and maximized their teaching industry, moreover there are plans to prepare local human resources to occupy mid-to-high positions in the company.

"He hopes that cooperation with universities and vocational schools can also be even more active so that our workforce supply is as expected," he said.
