JAKARTA - A total of 1,028 children in the Special Child Development Institutions (LPKA) throughout Indonesia receive National Children's Day Remissions (RAN) which is commemorated on July 23 every year.

"Of this number, 998 children received RAN I or a partial reduction in punishment and 30 children received RAN II or immediately released," said the Coordinator of Public Relations and Protocol of the Directorate General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Rika Aprianti in a written statement received at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. He said granting remissions to children is a form of state presence in protecting children for their future.

In line with the theme of National Children's Day (HAN) 2022, namely "Protected Children, Advanced Indonesia", granting remissions is an effort by the state to protect children as the nation's future generation. He detailed that 746 children received a one-month remission, 128 children received a two-month remission, 114 children received a three-month remission, and 10 children received a four-month remission.

Meanwhile, of the 30 children who were immediately released, 25 of them received a one-month remission, two children received a two-month remission, two children received a three-month remission, and one child received a four-month remission.

"Every year we give RAN to children who have met the administrative and substantive requirements," said Rika.

Giving remissions is expected to motivate children to become better individuals.
