Boosting Stunting Reduction, Rewards Baduta Hunting And High-Risk Pregnant Women In Brebes

JAKARTA - The Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, asked that data collection on infants under two years old (baduta) and pregnant women with a high risk of stunting in Brebes Regency be intensified.

This step is important because from the target of reducing the national stunting rate of 14 percent, the stunting rate in Brebes Regency is still more than 23 percent.

"We must 'hunt' because the stunting reduction target is quite high. Brebes has become one of our areas of concern. We are mobilizing community participation. Friends who have accompanied Posyandu throughout Indonesia have moved, I ask Brebes too. Today from Tanoto The foundation also came, so the Sigap house was made in which there were games and education," explained Ganjar Pranowo after inaugurating the Children's Home for Preparing Generations of Achievement Children (SIGAP) in Kluwut Village, Bulakamba District, Brebes.

Ganjar appreciates the support of the Tanoto Foundation which has taken the initiative to establish four SIGAP Children's Homes in Central Java to support efforts to accelerate stunting reduction. It is hoped that this step will be followed by companies and other concerned community groups.

"(Decrease) stunting is a target that we must increase, so that our human resources will be better in the future. So I was very happy, the midwife was asked to be happy (fun). How many pregnant people? 102 Sir. How much is the problem? 12 Sir. Well 12 this is what later became our target. This is the target that we start to monitor continuously. Including those at risk (high risk) until when they are born, please take care of it. Doctors and health workers from the puskesmas, and midwives, we hope that everyone will take care of it all ," he explained, quoted from the official website of the provincial government, Friday, July 22.

Before inaugurating the SIGAP Children's Home, the Governor visited the Dukuh Kramatsari Posyandu in Pengaradan Village. In addition to meeting children with stunting potential and high-risk pregnant women, the Governor also provided nutritious food assistance for toddlers and pregnant women in Pengaradan Village.

"Earlier, in another place (Pengaradan) it was found that there were poor nutrition, we immediately intervened. The mother was intervened so that the nutrition and breastfeeding went smoothly. The child was also given nutrition so we intervened both ways. We handle it well," he said.

The Board of Trustees of the Tanoto Foundation, Anderson Tanoto, said President Joko Widodo was targeting stunting at 14 percent nationally. Meanwhile, the stunting rate in Brebes Regency is around 35 percent, so it becomes a very big homework to reduce it.

"We will build four Sigap Children's Homes. This SIGAP Children's Home will work together with the puskesmas. We hope that it can help reduce stunting, for Brebes at least to 2 percent in the next three years. We learn a lot from the Governor to move quickly."

Regarding the data on the number of stunting rates in Brebes Regency, from the records of the Central Java Provincial Health Office, the prevalence of stunting under five in this district is 26.3 in 2021, and on July 3, 2022 it fell to 23.49.
