JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that anticipation continues to be carried out after there was information on alleged attempts to intervene in the pretrial trial of former Tanah Bumbu Regent, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) Mardani H. Maming at the South Jakarta District Court.

"We consider the information (alleged intervention, ed) as anticipatory steps because we want all offices that have dignity that must be upheld, yes, we must provide anticipatory steps," said Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto to reporters at the Merah Putih building. KPK, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, July 22.

Karyoto did not elaborate further on the intervention effort. He only said that the allegation came from intelligence information and made him directly monitor the ongoing trial.

"The information is still intelligence, yes, we can't reveal what form the information is in," he asserted.

Meanwhile, Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, said the anti-corruption commission had prepared strong evidence against Mardani in pretrial. Hundreds of documents from the process of proving the alleged bribery of mining business licenses are attached.

In the document, continued Ali, there are also statements from witnesses. "In addition to the electronic evidence that we have," he said.

"So today we have been proven, including two financial experts and criminal experts, we also present to strengthen the answer from the KPK law bureau team," continued Ali.

Previously reported, the KPK suspected that there were parties who would intervene in the ongoing pretrial process at the South Jakarta District Court (PN). As a result, the trial was monitored directly by the investigative team.

Mardani filed a pretrial lawsuit to the South Jakarta District Court after receiving a letter of suspect determination from the KPK. The Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board appointed members of the Governor's Team for the Acceleration of Development (TGUPP) DKI Jakarta Bambang Widjojanto and former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Denny Indrayana as attorney. The chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) was named a suspect in alleged bribery and gratification related to mining permits in Tanah Bumbu, Kalimantan. This corrupt practice allegedly occurred when Mardani was still in office.

The determination of Maming as a suspect by the KPK was initially known from the Directorate General of Immigration when confirming the existence of prevention abroad. Meanwhile, the KPK has not made an announcement because efforts to force detention have not been carried out.
