JAKARTA - The Sigi Regency Government, Central Sulawesi, has begun to develop the potential of fruit plantations to supply the logistics needs of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago in East Kalimantan.

"This year we are starting to strengthen fruit seeds," said the Regent of Sigi, Mohamad Irwan when contacted, Thursday, July 21.

The fruits that will be developed by the Sigi Regency Government include civet king durian, bawor durian, black thorn durian, kendil avocado, alligator avocado, diamond avocado, and longan kateki.

The Sigi Regency Government plans to establish cooperation with the Magelang City Government regarding the strengthening and procurement of these fruit seeds.

Irwan together with the Head of the Horticultural and Plantation Food Crops Service, Sigi Rahmat Iqbal, saw the seeds directly in Kalisalak Village, Magelang City, last Wednesday, July 20.

"My calculations are that in 2025, Sigi has become a producer of Musang King durian fruit that can be sold to markets in the Sulawesi region and to the State Capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan," Irwan said as quoted by Antara.

The development of the Musang King durian in Sigi Regency has been carried out since 2020. The Sigi Regency Government has allocated 20 thousand Musang King durian seedlings.

The civet king durian tree seeds, he said, were planted in four sub-districts including Kulawi, South Kulawi, Pipikoro and Lindu sub-districts, whose natural conditions are suitable for the civet king durian.

In addition to the Musang King durian, the Sigi Regency Government is also developing other plantation crops such as avocado butter and Balinese mangosteen and longan.

"Bali mangosteen and avocado butter were developed in the Kulawi, South Kulawi and Pipikoro areas. For longan, they were developed in the Sigi Biromaru District," he said.

Irwan explained that the Sigi Regency Government made commodity zoning with the aim of making the government more focused on regional development and knowing exactly the potential of an area.

"The zoning includes plantation crops, agricultural crops such as horti and others, then zoning for livestock and fishery potential," he said.
