Ganjar Pranowo Receives Green Leadership Award From KLHK, Here's Why

SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo received the Green Leadership Nirwasita Tantra 2021 award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia.

The award was handed over by Deputy Minister of Environment and Forestry Alue Dohong directly to Ganjar Pranowo at the Manggala Wanabakti Building in Jakarta, Wednesday 20 July.

Central Java won first place in the provincial government category, followed by West Java and East Java in second and third place.

"This award is for those actors or activists who move to save the environment and then he initiates until later policy making. I represent them to accept it, thank you to the community, OPD, and DPRD who helped," said Ganjar who was met after the event.

According to him, there is a moral responsibility as the recipient of the best award, namely being able to move more because talking about the environment cannot be done alone by the government, but also the participation of the community and all agencies.

"The most important moral message as the recipient of this best award in my opinion does not mean being proud or happy, it does not mean stopping. In fact, it has a moral message where we must continue to improve quality in order to care for the environment," he said, quoted by Antara.

Therefore, Ganjar continued, building a network that has many become important with the message of the importance of moving the network to do something or be a good example.

"Motivating is the most important thing, meaning that participation can arise, the environment can be sustainable (well maintained and there are more actors," said the PDI-P politician.

Director General of Social Forestry and Environmental Partnerships at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Bambang Supriyanto, added that the Nirwasita Tantra award was given to district, city, and provincial governments, including the legislature, and from all of that, rankings emerged.

"Leadership (leadership) is the key to saving LHK. 90 percent is determined by figures, in terms of policies and also for implementation policies. In the area of indicators, the environmental quality index, there are four instruments to measure, policy instruments and policy implementation," he said.

The local governments that received the 2021 Nirwasita Tantra award include Sukoharjo Regency for the medium district category, Banyumas Regency for the large district category, and Magelang City for the small city category.

In addition, the Central Java DPRD won first place in the Provincial DPRD category.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry also gave the 2022 Kalpataru award to 10 environmental heroes throughout Indonesia which were divided into the categories of pioneers, servants, saviors, and coaches.

"Actually today if the activities are combined between the executive, legislative and environmental activists, there is a movement not a crowd, but an integrated line so that the goal of making the environmental quality index better, better land cover, better climate will happen. "This synergized city and district leadership will be a source of national coherence," said Bambang.
