Souvenir Entrepreneurs Arrested And Persecuted Robbers In Menteng Luxury Apartments, Rp1 Billion Money Is Drained For Splendor

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Metro Police's Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) arrested four suspects for the robbery and confinement that took place at the Menteng Park Apartment, Central Jakarta.

The victim is known to have the initials AD, a man who sells souvenirs. As a result of the violent theft, the victim suffered a total loss of Rp. 1 billion.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for the Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Gunarto, explained that after receiving the incident report, his party immediately conducted an investigation and arrested the suspects.

"One day after the incident, we arrested the suspects with the initials JR, ZS and PO. Two days later, the main suspect with the initials AL was also arrested," said AKBP Gunarto to VOI, Wednesday, July 20.

From the arrest of the suspect with the initials AL, the police confiscated a number of evidences from the robbery crime committed by their gang to the victim.

"One of the perpetrators we are investigating, he rents an apartment and uses a fake ID card application. We are still combing through the place where he made a fake ID card, we are still developing it," he said.

From the gang, a perpetrator introduced the victim through an acquaintance application. The perpetrator pretended to be making an event and ordered souvenirs from the victim.

Then the perpetrator asked the victim to meet at an apartment in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta. After the location was determined, the victim went to the apartment room unit of the perpetrator.

"When he (the victim) came to the apartment according to the agreement because he wanted to meet consumers. When he entered the unit he was immediately detained and mistreated," he said.

The confinement lasted for 1 day in the Menteng Park apartment unit. Then the victim's head was put in a black bag by another group of perpetrators and beaten.

"At the time of the incident, the victim suffered a head injury. The head was covered with a dark bag and was hit from behind. There were bruises on the back of the head and body. Currently the victim is still being treated intensively," said AKBP Gunarto.

The victim was also threatened with a sharp weapon by one of the perpetrators. Furthermore, the perpetrators drained the contents of the victim's ATM and credit cards reaching Rp1 billion.

"From the proceeds of the crime, the perpetrators bought various kinds of cellphones and gold bars to narcotics. We confiscated all of the evidence," he said.

As a result of his actions, the four suspects were charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code. Until now, the Central Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim is still developing related to narcotics and making fake ID cards.
