Pertamina Tank Truck Deadly Accident In Cibubur, Vehicles Have Problems Since Rawamangun

JAKARTA - The driver and the assistant have been named as suspects in the deadly Pertamina tanker truck accident in the Cibubur area, Bekasi. From the results of the temporary investigation, the truck had experienced problems with its brake function since it was in the Rawamangun area.

"He (the driver, ed) stopped, checked and reported to the supervisory team or the technical team, carried out a brief inspection and then continued the journey," said Dirgakkum for the National Police Traffic Corps, Brigadier General Aan Suhanan, to reporters on Wednesday, July 20.

This information further strengthens the suspicion that the cause of the fatal accident was due to a failed brake. However, it still needs proof to be sure.

Director of Traffic Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Latif Usman previously also stated that he would take steps to prove the allegation. The trick is to check the condition of the Pertamina tank truck's braking function.

"We are coordinating with relevant agencies to check rather than the function of the vehicle, we will do it," he said.

In addition, inspections on drivers and assistants are also intensively carried out. In this way, authentic evidence will be obtained behind the cause of the deadly accident.

For information, the fatal accident occurred in the Alternative Transyogi area of Cibubur, Bekasi, Monday, July 18. The Pertamina tanker truck hit dozens of vehicles causing 10 people to die. Until now, the exact cause is not known. However, it is suspected that Pertamina's tanker truck experienced a failed brake.
