Good News, South Jakarta Residents Get Free Cat Sterilization Services From Government

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta Sub-dept. of Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture in collaboration with the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI) held free local cat sterilization from 19-21 July 2022.

"The quota from KPKP is 500 heads from 10 sub-districts. A total of 100 females and 400 males (for three days)," said the Head of the Food and Agriculture Security Section as well as Acting Head of the Livestock Health Section of Nila Kartina, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, July 19.

This activity, which involves a number of clinics in South Jakarta, is carried out in order to maintain the province of DKI Jakarta free of rabies and suppress the cat population in South Jakarta.

The requirements given to the owner are by registering online, having an ID card and domiciled in South Jakarta, bringing an ID card and photocopy of the ID card, bringing the cat according to the agreed time, and signing the consent form provided by the clinic.

Then, the requirements for animals to be sterilized, namely local cats aged at least 8 months and a maximum of five years, healthy condition, not pregnant or breastfeeding, fasted for at least eight hours before being brought to the clinic, placed in their own cages and given the owner's name. In addition, cats that have been neutered will be marked with "eartips".

Later, registered participants will be contacted by the head of the implementing unit from each sub-district.

Patient admission is open until 15.00 western Indonesia time. Meanwhile, the action will be carried out at 18.00 and 19.00 western Indonesia time.

"I am assigned with five (cats) and I'm working on all five of them today. I'm closed for general surgery today. Let's just finish it, so the supervision is better. We accept all of them today. Because there is only one doctor here," she said.
