JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives from the Gerindra faction, Fadli Zon, conveyed his condolences to the victims of the deadly Pertamina accident on Jl Alternative Cibubur, Bekasi, which occurred on Monday, July 18, afternoon.

"I am deeply saddened by the tragedy," said Fadli, Tuesday, July 19.

The West Java electoral district legislator then told about his experience of often passing the crime scene of the deadly truck accident. Fadli also highlighted the position of the red light at the CBD fork.

"I often pass Transyogi when I go to Cileungsi or Jonggol and Cariu, Bogor. That's my electoral district," said Fadli.

According to him, the condition of the red light at the CBD T-junction is not right. In fact, said Fadli, the location is prone to accidents.

"It doesn't really fit when there is a red light there, the position is derivative and it's a bit winding. So many people don't realize there is a red light. Several times during visits to the electoral district, there are often sudden brakes because of the red light," said Fadli.

For the safety of the public, Fadli requested that the red light at the location be reviewed. "It should be evaluated seriously," he said.

Fadli also appealed to the Pertamina truck which had an accident to be checked for feasibility. "We have to check the eligibility conditions," he said.

It is known that the fatal accident occurred on the alternative Cibubur, or Transyogi, direction to Cileungsi Bekasi, West Java on Monday, July 18, at around 16.00 western Indonesia time.

The accident involved a Pertamina tanker truck, a car, and a number of motorcycles. An eyewitness said that there were five victims of the accident who were crushed and got under the truck.

Police said 11 people died in an accident involving a Pertamina truck and a number of these vehicles.

"According to the data from the field, 11 people have died," said Director of Traffic of the Metro Jaya Police Grand Commissioner Latif Usman at the scene, Monday, July 18.
