Bawaslu Performs Three Violations Prevention Of Political Party Registration Stages, Here's How

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Election Supervisory Body Rahmat Bagja said that this institution carried out three efforts to prevent violations and disputes in the election process at the stages of registration, verification, and determination of political parties (party) in the 2024 General Election.

"These things we (Bawaslu) have done and will do in the registration, verification, and determination of political parties, which are essential stages in determining election participants in the 2024 General Election," said Rahmat Bagja in Jakarta, Monday, July 18.

The three preventions are, first, Bawaslu will develop monitoring instruments, mapping of vulnerabilities at the stages of registration, verification, and determination of political parties. Third, he said, to supervise the implementation of the stages of registration, verification and determination of political parties.

"We hope that the UN can prepare all the processes and documents correctly without any problems later," said Bagja.

Bagja explained that problems were often found in the registration and factual verification stages, one of which was related to the retirement status for members of the TNI, Polri, and state civil apparatus (ASN) who were registered as members of political parties.

According to Bagja, usually former members of the TNI, Polri, and ASN neglect or forget to change their retirement status on their ID cards.

"Sometimes those who retire, the person concerned should convey the change in population data to the sub-district if the person concerned retires. The ID card is still (not changed) but then the parents enter the ID card in the party registration requirements, that's a problem," he said. .

Therefore, Bagja hopes that all members of political parties who retire from members of the TNI, Polri, and ASN, can submit retirement letters if their ID cards are still registered as members of the TNI, Polri, and ASN.

"This is for registration of administrative requirements and factual verification this year, we hope that it can be submitted so that disputes over the process that you will carry out can be eliminated," he said.
