Man Who Drifted While Searching For Bottles In Ciliwung River Found Dead

JAKARTA - A man named Agus Ardiansyah (55) who was swept away by the current of the Ciliwung River, Tebet, South Jakarta was finally found. Unfortunately, the victim was found dead.

Jakarta SAR Office Team Commander, Ryan Christian said the victim was found about 1.5 kilometers from the scene on Sunday, July 17, at 17.30 WIB.

For information, Agus has been drifting since Saturday, July 16, at 11.30 WIB. When the victim was looking for a used plastic bottle on the edge of the Ciliwung River, it slipped and eventually drifted into the river.

"The victim's position was found near the Kampung Melayu Bridge, (the position) was floating," Ryan told reporters on Sunday, July 17.

Now, the victim's body has been taken to the funeral home on Jalan F Gang Z RT 011 RW 04, Kebon Baru, Tebet, South Jakarta.

"The body has been brought to his home. The search for today is closed," he concluded.

Previously, the Head of the Jakarta SAR Office, Fazzli, said the incident occurred on Saturday, July 16, at 11.30 WIB.

Based on the testimony of the witness, he said the victim had asked for help. Even the screams were known by witnesses who were at the location.

"The witness heard voices calling for help. (However) the witness could not help because this witness could not swim," said Fazzli when confirmed by VOI.

Fazzli revealed that after receiving the report, his party immediately sent a joint team to the location to search for the man who was swept away by the current.
