JAKARTA - TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa received the Most Glorious Laila Terbilang Darjah Paduka Keberanian Award, the highest award given by the Sultanate of Brunei to the leaders of the armed forces.

In addition to serving as the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah is also the highest defense and government minister of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces as well as the foreign minister, economy and finance minister of Brunei.

Ambassador Sujatmiko said the awarding of the star showed the strong and close relationship between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, especially between the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and the TNI.

The Indonesian government has also given Bintang Yudha Dharma Utama to the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).

The recipients of the award since 2011 include the Honorable Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah on 17 June 2015 and His Excellency Maj. Gen. Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin on 22 August 2011.

Cooperation between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam in the field of defense has been close, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
