COVID-19 Cases Rise To 53, Yogyakarta DIY Secretary Suspected Because Residents Started To Ignore Health Prosecution

YOGYAKARTA - Secretary of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Kadarmanta Baskara Aji suspects that the increase in COVID-19 cases in this province is because the implementation of health protocols is starting to be ignored by the community.

"In my opinion, it seems that many have started to ignore it. Although there is a new variant if we don't ignore the health protocols, it's also safe," said Baskara Aji at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta, Antara, Friday, July 15.

Aji believes that even though new Omicron variants BA.4 and BA.5 appear in Indonesia, as long as the health protocol is applied disciplined, COVID-19 cases will remain under control.

Based on data from the Yogyakarta Regional Government, confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the local area on July 14, 2022, increased by 53 cases, up from the number of additional cases the day before as many as 26 cases.

"We have repeatedly said that we must not be careless about the decline or sloping of cases," he said.

In accordance with the central government's appeal, he hopes that people in DIY will return to wearing masks both indoors and outdoors, and avoid crowds.

"I think it's to be vigilant so that there won't be many more infections," he said.

In addition to maintaining health, according to Aji, vaccination is also the key to controlling the transmission of COVID-19 in DIY.

Head of Public Relations, General Bureau, Public Relations, and Protocol of the Regional Secretariat of DIY, Ditya Nanaryo Aji, said that the achievement of booster doses of COVID-19 vaccination in DIY until July 15, 2022 had reached 36.53 percent or as many as 1,051,999 people.

Meanwhile, the first dose of vaccination reached 107.84 percent or 3,105,403 people and the second dose reached 100.16 percent or 2,884,187 people.
