MAMUJU - The joint SAR team has stopped the search for fishermen who were reported missing since Saturday (9/7) in the waters of Cilallang, Majene Regency, West Sulawesi.

Head of the Basarnas Operations Section of Mamuju Regency Muhammad Faturahman, Friday night said, after seven days with no results, the joint SAR team finally stopped the search for the missing fisherman.

"On Friday evening at around 18.00 WITA or the seventh day after fisherman Bakri (41) was reported missing, the joint SAR team stopped the search operation with no results," said Muhammad Faturahman, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 15.

Muhammad Faturahman continued, based on the results of the analysis and technical evaluation of the SA operation and no signs of victims were found.

Based on the agreement between the joint SAR team and the victim's family and local authorities, the victim was declared missing, and the SAR operation was declared complete and it was agreed that it should be closed.

"The SAR elements involved are returned to their respective organizational agencies. We express our gratitude to all parties and SAR elements involved in this search," said Muhammad Faturahman.

However, if there are signs of the missing fisherman being found, the search effort can be re-opened.

"Search efforts can be reopened if there are signs of the missing fisherman," said Muhammad Faturahman.

The fisherman, Bakri, was reported missing by his family when he went to sea on Saturday morning (9/7) at around 05.00 WITA.

Then, at 09.00 WITA another fisherman found the victim's boat bobbing in the middle of the sea and immediately reported the incident.

Furthermore, the Mamuju Basarnas Rescue Team together with the Polewali Mandar SAR alert unit, Majene Police, Kodim 1401, BPBD, PMI, Majene PSC 119 and Polewali Mandar assisted by the local community and the victim's family conducted a search at the location of the missing fisherman.
