ICW's Advice To Jokowi Who Is Looking For A Replacement For Lili Pintauli: Don't Repeat The Same Mistakes

JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Kurnia Ramadhana reminded President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the DPR not to repeat their mistakes when looking for a replacement for Lili Pintauli Siregar.

Lili resigned from her position as Deputy Chairperson of the KPK when she was suspected of receiving accommodation and tickets for the Mandalika MotoGP from PT Pertamina (Persero). Jokowi officially approved this resignation by issuing a Presidential Decree (Keppres) on Monday, July 11.

"The president and the DPR must not repeat mistakes or mistakes in 2019," Kurnia told reporters at the ACLC building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Friday, July 15.

Kurnia mentioned that the momentum for Lili's resignation could be used by President Jokowi and the DPR to find KPK leaders with integrity and independence.

"Because it is proven that what they choose, decide, and inaugurate is now full of problems," he said.

"Therefore, the momentum for sister Lili's departure must be used by President Jokowi and the DPR to put integrity, independence and professionalism into account when appointing sister Lili's successor," continued the anti-corruption activist.

In addition, Kurnia assessed that the performance of the Selection Committee (Pansel) for KPK Leadership Candidates in 2019 should also be in the spotlight. This is because they, together with President Jokowi and members of Commission III of the DPR RI, have chosen those who have problems.

"The incident of sister Lili Pintauli, sister Firli and other leaders is a basic mistake from those who choose, seek, determine and inaugurate the KPK leadership.

Lili Pintauli was reported to the KPK Supervisory Board for allegedly receiving accommodation and tickets for the Mandalika MotoGP. In conducting the investigation, Tumpak et al have asked for information from various parties including the President Director of PT Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati.

However, this trial was declared void because the former Deputy Chairperson of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) resigned from his position. The KPK Council reasoned that Lili was no longer a member of the KPK.
