Bobby Nasution Ensures Construction Of Rob Embankment In Belawan Begins Immediately: This Is For The Prosperity Of The Community

MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution hopes that all Forkopimda elements support the construction of the rob embankment that will be carried out by the Medan City Government in Zone C.

This is because the purpose of the embankment construction is to overcome the tidal flood that residents in northern Medan have complained about, especially the Medan Belawan District.

This hope was conveyed by Bobby Nasution while chairing a meeting with elements of the Northern Medan Forkopimda which was held at the Marine Headquarters on Jalan Serma Hanafiah Belawan, Tuesday, July 12.

Bobby Nasution said that if the tidal levees in Zone C in the Belawan Bahagia Sub-district were built, it would certainly make the next phase of construction easier.

"The construction of the tidal levee, which is being carried out in Zone C, is first important so that water does not enter again when the tidal flood occurs. After the water no longer enters, then we will try to find out how those in the area can prosper. Because the government's presence in handling the tidal flood is for the welfare of the people," said Bobby Nasution, quoted from a written statement by Public Relations of the Medan City Government, Tuesday, July 12.

Related to that, said Bobby Nasution, the construction of the rob embankment will continue. In order to support the smooth development carried out, he added, every year the budget for the construction of the rob embankment is included in the APBD. It is hoped that the construction of the embankment carried out will be able to overcome the problem of tidal flooding.

During the meeting, President Joko Widodo's son-in-law hoped that PT Pelindo Belawan Branch would immediately write to the Ministry of SOEs regarding the release of land assets belonging to PT Pelindo Belawan Branch which were occupied by residents, especially those behind embankments or on the seafront.

According to him, the release of land assets can be handed over directly to the Medan City Government or the community.

Later in the meeting, the Belawan Police Chief, Danyonmarhanlan I Belawan and Kajari Belawan fully supported the construction of the rob embankment carried out by the Medan City Government.

This is because the purpose of the embankment construction is to overcome the problem of tidal flooding that occurred in the northern part of Medan, especially in the Medan Belawan District. Then, the Medan City Government is expected to continue to socialize to the community regarding the benefits of the rob embankment construction that will be carried out so that the construction runs smoothly.

From the meeting held, the construction of the rob embankment will be carried out followed by socialization to the community.

"We (Medan Pemko and Forkopimda) have agreed that we will continue to disseminate information to the community regarding the construction of the rob embankment that will be carried out. We ask for all prayers and support so that efforts to deal with tidal flooding in northern Medan run smoothly," said Bobby Nasution.

Previously, Medan Public Works Head, Topan OP Ginting, explained that the design for the rob embankment to be built was a design from the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), but there were slight changes.

There are 3 zones, namely A, B and C, where the tidal levees will be built. For Zone C, he explained, the construction of the embankment was carried out by the Medan City Government for approximately 1 kilometer. While Zones A and B, he added, the construction of the embankment was carried out by the Ministry of PUPR

The construction of the embankment, said Typhoon, was carried out to overcome the tidal flood that had occurred so far. For Zone C, he continued, the location for the embankment construction is in Belawan Bahagia Village. "The turab construction will be carried out in Zone C with a wall height of about 1.2 to 1.5 meters above the existing road," explained Topan.
