JAKARTA - The stages of New Student Admission (PPDB) in Central Java for the 2022/2023 academic year are over. Currently, several schools have started the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) or previously known as the Student Orientation Period (MOS).

Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo appealed to schools to fully supervise the implementation. Ganjar doesn't want to hear of any incidents of hazing being experienced by the new students.

"We want an introduction, yes, introduce the situation and condition of the school", said Ganjar in his statement, Tuesday, July 12.

According to him, during this introduction period, new students need to be motivated to build their enthusiasm for learning. In addition, Ganjar continued, he was also encouraged to excel.

"So that the spirit of learning is constantly maintained, there is even a desire or motivation for achievement", he said.

The governor emphasized that it was much more important than the old ways with the perspective model. Ganjar doesn't want new students to accept violence or anything like that, as has happened in the past.

"Screaming, violence, it's not the time. So this must be abandoned", he said.

The former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives said that these new students could be introduced to preparations for dealing with an uncertain pandemic situation.

"Get ready to be more creative, maybe freedom of learning can also be applied to children who are in high school so that they have experience and that is much more important than when we talk about aggressive models like my era", he said.

The head of the Central Java Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud), Uswatun Khasanah, added that until now the fulfillment of the student quota was still running. Currently, said Uswatun, 99 percent of the total quota of 217 thousand students has been fulfilled.

"The rest of the day, circulars for school fulfillment have been issued to regional stakeholders", said Uswatun.

An appeal was also conveyed so that fulfillment was prioritized for students from underprivileged families. The next category is schools.

“Schools that aren't filled are very few around 0.75 (percent), and that's on the outskirts of everything. In the next five days, God willing, everything will be fulfilled", he said.

Regarding MPLS, Uswatun has also appealed to all education units under the Central Java Provincial Government not to carry out hazing activities.

“It also includes anti-radicalism and intolerance content. So there is no (hazing), and we urge nothing strange", he said.
