BADUNG - The Badung District Attorney in Bali has detained a suspect with the initials NAWP in the alleged corruption case of people's business credit funds (KUR) worth IDR 1.7 billion at a state-owned bank.

The head of the Badung District Attorney, Imran Yusuf, said the Badung District Attorney investigator team had conducted an examination of the NAWP suspect accompanied by his legal adviser.

"And for several reasons, the investigative team has taken a stand to detain the NAWP suspect for the next 20 days from July 11, 2022, to July 30, 2022", he said, in a written statement, Monday, July 11.

Previously, the Prosecutor's Office of Badung had investigated the alleged corruption of misappropriating KUR funds at one of the state-owned banks in Badung Regency.

The investigation into this case has been held since the beginning of 2022. On June 13, 2022, the Attorney General's Office named a bank credit employee as a suspect.

"During the investigation stage until the suspect was determined in this case, the investigative team has conducted an examination and has collected evidence to shed light on the criminal acts that have occurred", said Imran.

From the results of the investigation, the provisional suspicion of state financial losses based on the results of the audit submitted by the internal audit team amounted to IDR 1,761,178,577.00.

Several modus operandi was found used by the suspect to commit criminal acts, including making fictitious credit by falsifying documents, both ID cards and Certificates of Business Place (SKTU) as a condition for applying for micro KUR to 99 debtors with the remaining balance of debt positions as of March 31, amounting to IDR 1,753,992,867.00.

In addition, NAWP made a Topengan credit (granting credit using another person's name as a debtor) to one Kupedes Rakyat (small-scale loan products) debtor with the remaining debt balance as of March 31, 2022, amounting to IDR 7,185,710.00.

"Based on the findings of these facts, the Badung District Attorney's investigation team has detained the suspect NAWP and continues investigation activities so that further investigations into this case can be submitted to the public prosecutor for investigation", said Imran
