JAKARTA - The Main Expert of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Hageng Nugroho appreciates the high public interest related to regulating the distribution of subsidized fuel for the type of pertalite and diesel using the MyPertamina application.

Hageng assessed that the high interest showed that there was an understanding between the community and the government that the distribution of subsidized fuel had to be rearranged to make it more targeted.

"There has been an understanding and awareness in the community so that subsidized fuel does not leak to the upper classes. This is a big leap to realize equitable subsidies," said Hageng, in a KSP press release in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 7.

Previously, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Sub Holding Commercial & Trading of PT Pertamina (Persero), noted that from July 1 to July 4, 2022 as many as 50,000 vehicles had been registered as users of subsidized fuel, either through the MyPertamina application or the subsiditepat.mypertamina.id website. Meanwhile, the number of downloads of the MyPertamina application in the same period reached four million times.

Hageng emphasized that the Government has worked hard so that subsidized fuel, both pertalite and diesel, does not increase even though world oil prices continue to soar by providing compensation for subsidies which amount to Rp. 502 trillion.

The policy, he said, was solely to maintain the availability and affordability of subsidized fuel prices for the underprivileged so that economic conditions were maintained and running.

"So, the government is here to reduce the burden on the people. For that, people are wiser in consuming subsidized fuel," he said.

Hageng also encouraged PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Sub Holding Commercial & Trading of PT Pertamina (Persero), to maintain the conduciveness of distribution of subsidized fuels of pertalite and diesel types by continuously socializing and improving supporting infrastructure.

"Don't let the government's good intentions actually lead to negative things on the ground," said Hageng.

In the initial stage, trials of distributing pertalite-type subsidized fuel through the MyPertamina system in several cities/districts spread across five provinces, namely West Sumatra, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, West Java, and DI Yogyakarta.

The distribution of subsidized fuel is a mandate of Presidential Decree No. 191/2014 concerning Supply, Distribution, and Retail Selling Price of Oil Fuel, and BPH Migas Decree No. 4/2020 concerning Assignment of Pertalite and Diesel.
