Muara Crocodile Enters The Shrimp Pond In Pasia Paneh Agam West Sumatra

AGAM - An estuarine crocodile (Crododylus porosus) entered a resident's shrimp pond in Pasia Paneh, South Tiku Nagari, Tanjungmutiara District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra.

Shrimp pond manager, Rika Rahim, said the estuarine crocodile entered the pond about three weeks ago, but was spotted or spotted on Monday (4/7).

"A crocodile was found in the pool swimming," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 5.

He said the existence of protected animals under Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and their Ecosystems is very disturbing for residents.

In addition, the crocodiles also eat the shrimp in the pond, because the crocodiles are in the pond every day.

With this condition, Rika Rahim reported the appearance of crocodiles into the pond to the Maninjau Natural Resources Conservation Resort (KSDA).

"I have reported to the Agam KSDA Resort to take the next steps," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Agam KSDA Resort, Ade Putra, confirmed that he had received the report and had forwarded it to the West Sumatra BKSDA Wildlife Resque Unit (WRU) Team. "I have forwarded the report to the WRU BKSDA West Sumatra Team," he said.

The guardian of South Tiku Nagari, Ismardi, added that his party and the West Sumatra BKSDA had been to the location when the crocodile came out a few months ago and was in the yard of SDN 12 Batang Tiku.

"We went to the location to urge residents and students to increase their vigilance while in the area," he said.

After that, his party also put up a written warning at the location and would install a fence at that location with 2022 nagari funds.

"This is a form of our anticipation so that there are no casualties due to being attacked by crocodiles because the location of the pond is only 12 meters away," he said.
