JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded inflation in Jakarta during June 2022 at 0.32 percent (m-to-m) from the previous month.

Head of DKI Jakarta BPS Anggoro Dwitjahyono said inflation in June 2022 in the Capital City was most affected by price increases in the food, beverage and tobacco expenditure group of 1.10 percent.

"Inflation that occurred in household expenditures in the food, beverage and tobacco groups of 1.10 percent was influenced by the share of important commodities during June 2022," Anggoro said as quoted on the Jakarta Provincial Government's official website on Monday, July 4.

Anggoro detailed that the commodity that most affected the inflation rate in this group was the increase in the prices of three basic commodities.

The three commodities, namely red chilies which experienced an increase in prices with an inflation share of 0.09 percent, cayenne peppers experienced an increase in prices by contributing to inflation of 0.05 percent, and an increase in the price of shallots contributed to inflation of 0.04 percent.

"Meanwhile, this month's transportation expenditure group is still dominated by the share of air ticket fares, which make up inflation of 0.03 percent," said Anggoro.

Anggoro said the inflation rate during June 2022, which was 0.32 percent, was higher than last month's inflation in May 2022 which was only 0.06 percent.

"This condition is a reflection of the increase in the price index of several important commodities which coincided with the increasing activity of public consumption after normal conditions for the past month," he said.

However, Anggoro said that inflation in DKI Jakarta during June 2022 was the lowest inflation rate achievement compared to several buffer areas, such as Bogor with an inflation rate of 0.75 percent, Tangerang 0.59 percent, Depok 0.53 percent, and Bekasi 0. 49 percent.

On that occasion, Anggoro said, the inflation rate for the calendar year in Jakarta was 1.94 percent (y-to-d) and the year-on-year inflation rate was 2.88 percent (y-on-y).

The inflation rate for the 2022 calendar year, from January to June 2022, was 1.94 percent, the highest since the last three years of the pandemic. However, it is still relatively lower when compared to the same period January to June 2019 when there was no pandemic which reached 2.12 percent.

"In general, the inflation rate during the first semester of 2022 is still at a relatively moderate level considering that it is still below two percent for the last three years," he said.

He conveyed that the year-on-year inflation rate during June 2022 of 2.88 percent was also still much lower than the same month in 2019 when conditions were normal before the pandemic. "Where the year-on-year inflation rate is in the range of three percent every month," he added.
