JAKARTA - The perpetrator of the stabbing of his wife and child in Sitirejo Village, Wagir District, Malang Regency, East Java with the initials BFY (42) finally surrendered himself to the Malang Resort Police (Polres).

Malang Police Chief AKBP Ferli Hidayat in Malang Regency said that the perpetrator came to the Resort Police to surrender on Saturday, July 2, accompanied by his family.

"Knowing that he was wanted by the police, the perpetrator finally gave himself up. Subsequently, the suspect and evidence were brought to the Malang Police for further investigation," said Ferli.

Ferli explained that the stabbing of the suspect's wife and child began on June 28, 2022 in Lemah Duwur Hamlet, Sitirejo Village, Wagir District, Malang Regency at approximately 15.00 WIB.

The victim of the stabbing was the suspect's wife with the initials LW and her 21-year-old biological child with the initials IFC. LW suffered nine stab wounds to his body, while the child was stabbed with a sharp weapon once.

"We secured a number of items of evidence, including sharp weapons such as knives," he said.

The chronology of the incident, he continued, began when the suspect came to the house of the victim's grandmother in an angry condition. Then, the perpetrator and the victim with the initials LW argued with each other at the crime scene (TKP).

"Furthermore, the perpetrator immediately stabbed the victim LW using a small knife. IFC, who tried to intervene, was also stabbed by the suspect," he said.

After committing the act, the perpetrator then fled. IFC victims reported the case to local authorities. Police officers are trying to find the perpetrators of the stabbing by visiting a number of locations.

"The perpetrator finally gave himself up. The perpetrator did this because he did not accept that his wife would divorce him," he said.

Currently the two victims are being treated at the Kepanjen Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Malang Regency to undergo treatment due to their injuries.

Meanwhile, the perpetrators were charged with Article 44 paragraph (2) Jo. Article 5 Law. NO. 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence with the threat of a maximum imprisonment of ten years and a maximum fine of Rp. 30 million.
