Ministry Of Home Affairs Fights For Special ASN Formation For Indigenous Papuans In 3 DOB

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Home Affairs is fighting for the special formation of the state civil apparatus for Papuan Indigenous People (OAP) in the three New Autonomous Regions (DOB) of Papua so that OAP will have the privilege to fill CPNS formations.

The government will loosen the age limit for Papuan Indigenous People to be accepted as CPNS, from 35 years which is generally accepted by law, to 50 years specifically applicable to OAP in new autonomous regions.

"If we want to fulfill 80 percent of OAP (to fill civil servant formations in Papua New Guinea) with the available law, it is not possible. We strongly agree that the law provides an affirmation room for OAP who are 50 years old," said the Director General of Politics and Public Administration (Dirjen Polpum) Ministry of Home Affairs Bahtiar during a hearing at the DPR building, reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 29.

In addition to encouraging affirmations in the form of easing the age limit, the Ministry of Home Affairs also proposes that the easing reach a wider range of OAP.

If in the draft law (RUU) the easing of the age limit is only aimed at OAP with honorary status and prospective civil servants with P3K status, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposes that the easing also applies to OAP outside these categories.

In other words, the opportunity to become a civil servant until the age of 50 years applies to all OAP.

"This is a form of the government's commitment to prioritize OAP in filling the formation of ASN and officials in Papua and the new provinces," said Bahtiar.

Bahtiar spoke in the RDP which discussed the Bill on the Province of South Papua, the Bill on Central Papua, and the Bill on the Province of Papua Mountains.

The presence of the ranks of the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) led by Mahfud MD as the ad interim Menpan RB, is a follow-up to the RDP Commission II of the DPR with the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday (27/6).

The Ministry of Home Affairs has been at the forefront of accepting the aspirations of the Papuan people who have asked for affirmations for OAP to fill the formation of civil servants in Papua.

At the DPR RDP with the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday (27/6), the issue of the affirmation was raised which caused the DPR to ask for an RDP with the Kemenpan RB.
