CIANJUR - Cianjur Police Resort, West Java, is still hunting for the owner of a 10-hectare marijuana land in Mount Karuhun, Cimenteng Village, Campaka District whose identity has been known.
"We have managed to get the identity of the perpetrator who owns the marijuana field, members have been dispatched to hunt down the perpetrator who managed to escape when we came to the marijuana field", said Cianjur Police Chief, AKBP Doni Hermawan, in Cianjur, Antara, Wednesday, June 29.
He said the suspected owner of the cannabis plant had lived at the foot of the mountain. However, when he saw that there were dozens of officers who came after receiving reports from residents, the suspect immediately fled so that the witness statements of residents pointed to the perpetrator.
"Soon we will arrest him because officers are pursuing several points where the perpetrators had lived or were hiding", said Doni.
Doni added that his party found several new spots planted with marijuana by the alleged perpetrators on the edge of a cliff on a mountain. However, his party has not been able to confirm the total number of cannabis plants that are estimated to be ready for harvest next month.
"We together with local officials are still looking for the presence of other plants which are estimated to be widely scattered in the mountain. The difficult-to-reach terrain makes officers face quite heavy obstacles", he said.
Currently, he said, his party has secured 300 marijuana stalks, several bottles of pesticide fertilizer, and several other pieces of evidence. "We will complete the case until the alleged perpetrator is caught", he said.
Previously, the Cianjur Police found 10 hectares of marijuana fields scattered at several points on the slopes of Mount Karuhun, Cimenteng Village, Campaka District. Until now, officers are still conducting searches at several points suspected of being used for seeding.
