TANJUNG SELOR - Religious harmony and tolerance are one of the factors that put North Kalimantan (Kaltara) in second place in the happiness index in Indonesia.

The Governor of Kaltara Zainal Arifin Paliwang said the role of religious leaders is the main mover in creating human resources with noble character.

The openness of regional leaders to organizations/institutions, especially in the religious field, is a bridge between the government and the community so that government programs can be successful.

The Governor of Kaltara also received an audience with religious leaders from the Pastors of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (GMAHK) throughout North Kalimantan, in his office. The pastor of the Berau GMAHK was also present, which is a working area/synodal of the Kaltara GMAHK.

"I am grateful for the hearing that we hold to support and succeed the program of the Kaltara provincial government. I ask that we can synergize with each other to support Kaltara to become Changed, Advanced and Prosperous," said Governor Zainal as quoted from a written statement, Wednesday, June 29.

After holding an audience with the Governor, Pdt. Wilman Habeahan from GMAHK Tarakan stated that the purpose of the audience with the Governor was to convey the work program of the CMAHK which was translated from government programs.

“The Adventist Church in Kaltara synergizes with the government through programs provided by the government. First is the vaccine. So we are trying to finish the pastor and congregation in getting vaccines from one to a booster," he explained.

GMAHK supports government programs, one of which is in terms of health. Not only completing the COVID-19 vaccination program, GMAHK also helped reduce stunting/malnutrition in the working area (synodes) of GMAHK such as holding seminars for its congregation.

“The governor's response was very happy because the Adventist Church participated in supporting and synergizing in building Kaltara. Because this Kaltara tagline is Kaltara in the Heart. It means that we also need to take good care of it,” added Rev. Wilman.

He also conveyed a message from the Governor of Kaltara who would launch the Clean Kaltara program. "So we really support this program. Wherever there is an Adventist Church, we will support it,” he said.
