MERANTI ISLANDS - Two fishermen from the Meranti Islands Regency, Riau, were found safe after previously being declared lost in contact while at sea in the waters of Tanjung Balai Karimun, Riau Islands Province, since Thursday (23/6).

Head of Sungai Gayung Kiri Village, Rangsang Sub-district, Perdana Noriowati, said the two people were found by fishermen who happened to be crossing the waters of Pambang Island, Bengkalis on Monday (27/6) night.

"Alhamdulillah, both of them have been found safe. The victim has been evacuated, currently he is still on his way back to Rangsang," said Perdana as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 28.

The fisherman who found it said the two missing people had been found and were already on his boat.

"It is reported that the ship they were on was swept away or dragged into the waters of Pambang Island. What is clear is that the chronology of the incident will be informed later," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Tanjung Balai Karimun SAR Post, Khairul Nazri, who previously conducted a search with the Polairud joint team and other parties, has received related information that the two fishermen were found.

"Information from the victim's family has been found, but we are still exploring the truth," said Khairul.
