JAKARTA - The City Government (Pemkot) of Madiun, East Java conducted an air quality test to determine the air quality in its area.

Head of Pollution Control and Environmental Damage, DLH Madiun City, Hendro Pradono said the air quality test was carried out at five different monitoring points in the city area.

"The five monitoring points are industrial areas, settlements, offices, dense transportation areas, and final disposal sites (TPA)," said Hendro Pradono in Madiun, Tuesday, June 28,

For industrial areas, the air quality samples taken are located on Mendut Street, Patihan Village. The densely populated area was taken on Jalan Gajah Mada Gang Punden, Manguharjo Village. Then, the office area in the Sumber Wangi area, Jalan Pahlawan City of Madiun.

"Then, the densely packed sample transportation area was taken on Jalan Urip Sumoharjo and the final disposal area was carried out at the Winongo TPA," said Hendro quoted from Antara.

In addition to knowing the air quality, the air quality test is also carried out in the context of controlling pollution and environmental damage.

The test method is carried out by the "impinger" method. The results can only be known after laboratory tests using several assessment parameters, such as nitrogen monoxide levels, lead levels, and ozone.

This air quality test was carried out for the second time in 2022. From the results of the first test conducted last March, the air quality in Madiun City is included in the safe and good category with the percentage of the air quality index reaching 83.78 percent.

"Sampling is carried out for 24 hours, then tested in an environmental laboratory. The results can be known at least one week later," he said.

He is optimistic that the results obtained in this test will not be much different from the results of previous tests.
