YOGYAKARTA - The Social Security Administration (BPJS) for Health recorded that 95.93 percent of the total population of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, around 3.6 million people, were participants in the National Health Insurance Program (JKN).

"The figure in June 2022, DIY has touched 95.93 percent of the total population of DIY, so that DIY is one of 13 provinces in Indonesia that has reached universal coverage," said Deputy Director of the Central Java Region and DIY BPJS Kesehatan Dwi Martiningsih quoted from the official website of the Regional Government. DIY, Tuesday 28 June.

Dwi said that by participating in JKN, DIY residents have a great opportunity to take care of their health better so that it has an impact on increasing productivity and community welfare.

"Because health is the main pillar so that people can be healthier and be productive without thinking about later if they get sick, who will pay for it, so that if they are productive their welfare will increase," said Dwi.

However, according to him, BPJS Kesehatan continues to pay special attention to Bantul Regency, whose coverage has only touched 93 percent or has not exceeded the universal coverage.

He hopes that the DIY local government can conduct a sweeping of the people who have not been registered with the JKN program.

"If there are residents who are unable to pay contributions, the government can cover them through the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) and the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD)," he said.

According to him, the true universal coverage of JKN participants can be achieved in several ways, including covering registration fees for the poor or underprivileged through the state budget.

"The coverage for the people of Bantul can be proposed to be covered through the state budget so that it can be optimized," he said, quoted from Antara.

The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of DIY Kadarmanta Baskara Aji explained that the coverage rate of the JKN program in Bantul had only reached 93 percent.

He has asked the Social Service Office of Yogyakarta and Bantul to collect data on people who have not been facilitated by the social security program.

"If there is a quota, I think it can be financed from there, because the contributions can be financed from the APBN, APBD and independently," said Aji.
