By Law Holds International Court Simulation Competition

JAKARTA - A legal education organization for youth, students and university students, By Law, held an international court competition. The competition will be held from 18 to 19 June 2022 virtually and is attended by international participants.

The initiator, Founder and President of By Law, Nadine Kei Inara (Kei) said, the By Law International Court Competition (BLICC) was attended by students from 8 countries including Indonesia, England, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, India, and Ghana. . The International Court By Law Simulation Competition which was held in June 2022 brought together international students and students from various backgrounds to conduct trial simulations related to international cases.

With the theme "Justice in Practice", Kei explained, the essence of By Law is to become an organization that can be a stepping stone for students and students to measure and determine the meaning of justice on an individual scale.

"The theme 'Justice in Practice' will not only discuss how to fight for justice in legal practice, but also struggle to practice justice in our daily lives," he said in a written statement, Tuesday, June 28.

The BLICC June 2022 consists of three court committees simulating the trial of unique cases, including the International Court of Justice (ICJ) committee, the International Criminal Court (ICC) committee and the Indonesian District Court committee (District Court). Some of the cases discussed were the Russia vs Ukraine 2014 Crimea Annexation case and the Republic of Indonesia vs Doni Salmanan case.

Kei, the 16-year-old Founder and President of By Law, added, one of the goals of this competition is to explain the importance of young people understanding the law as early as possible and enriching students with legal knowledge, something that is important for students and college students regardless of whether they will choose to become a lawyer as a career or not in the future.

Several positive sentiments were echoed by prominent figures in the #LegalTalk By Law discussion series. #LegalTalk is a series of conversations by Kei with professionals in the legal field for various broad-minded perspectives with the aim of spreading legal education and increasing interest in law. In addition to BLICC participants who receive messages and words of wisdom, #LegalTalk is also published through videos on By Law's social media and can be seen by the general public.

Head of the Indonesian Attorney General's Office for Data, Criminal Statistics and Information Technology (Daskrimti) Didik Farkhan Alisyahdi, SH, MH in #LegalTalk with By Law said, for him, the law is something that must be understood by young people in order to avoid punishment (lawsuits) .

"I believe that by participating in this competition, young people can gain new knowledge about international law," he said.

Law expert and famous Indonesian singer, Once Mekel said that young people need to know whether they are being treated fairly in society, so they must know about the law.

"Youths who study law in theory can put it into practice in this court competition to debate issues of an international nature," said Once.

Lawyer who is included in the Top 100 Lawyer in Indonesia, Mohamad Kadri said, now young people can speak louder and easily express their opinion about justice, (and) I think it's because of (better) education.

"I can tell you that in recruiting talented young lawyers, we usually look to see if they have previously participated in court competitions," he said.

By Law is an organization that was initiated, founded and led by Nadine Kei Inara with the aim of providing a platform for students and young people to learn about law and justice and share with those who are less fortunate through social activities within the organization.

Kei hopes that through his organizations and events, he is able to make a real impact on young people by sharing knowledge about world issues and law.

Apart from being the initiator, founder, and active in several other youth organizations and activities, Kei has also held several conferences, one of which is the International Model United Nations conference which is directly supported by UNHCR.

In this June 2022 BLICC, Kei is supported by the organizing team, namely Niki, Josephine, Stefi, Febby, Arsya, Chiesa, Sophia, Seby, Ayra, Audrey and Prabu. As chair of the committee are Ken, Marvel, Richelle, Sarah, Kevin and Russell.
