JAKARTA - The Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, together with representatives of the United States Institute for Security Governance, discussed plans for joint training to improve the ability of soldiers to carry out their duties.

"We are trying to design a joint exercise between three TNI dimensions in collaboration with the Institute for Security Governance," said Commander General Andika Perkasa through a YouTube channel monitored in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, June 28.

The Institute for Security Governance is an independent institution that works and has experience with the Indo Pacific Command (Indopacom) in designing various soldier development programs.

"This exercise is to give TNI soldiers more experience in carrying out military operations," said the former Army Chief of Staff (KSAD).

The meeting with the Institute for Security Governance delegation was a follow-up to the previous meeting with US Indopacom Commander Admiral Aquilino.

General Andika said the collaboration between the TNI and the Institute for Security Governance would be carried out continuously in various human resource development programs within the TNI.

In the meeting, Andika Perkasa invited the Institute for Security Governance and related elements to immediately focus on long-term development. General Andika also directly contacted the TNI Kodiklat Commander to hold a meeting with a delegation from the Institute for Security Governance to prepare in more detail the concept of the joint exercise.

"I hope that this collaboration will not only provide training for soldiers but will also provide broader insight to the ranks of the TNI regarding the management of the educational organizational structure within the TNI," he said.

Meanwhile, delegation from the Institute for Security Governance Rear Admiral (Ret.) Michael Smith said the independent agency works in the defense sector and has ties to Indopacom.
