Gun Romli Says The Koran Doesn't Forbid Interfaith Marriage

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI) Haris Pertama disagrees with PSI politician Guntur Romli alias Gun Romli's statement that interfaith marriage is not prohibited in the Koran.

Haris assessed that Gun Romli was not a religious expert. Because he does not have special expertise in the field of religion, Haris asked Gun Romli to speak using reason and his mind proportionally.

"Where is this human's brain? Don't understand religion, but always talk about religion," said Haris on his Twitter account, @knpiharis, Tuesday, June 28.

Irritated by Gun Romli's behavior, who often talks about religion without a solid foundation, Haris mocks Gun Romli.

He advised Gun Romli to undergo rukiah, a healing method for people who experience pain, generally from animal stings, possession to jinn disturbances.

"Humans like this should be in rukiah," he said accompanied by a laughing emoji.

Previously, Gun Romli said he agreed with interfaith marriages. The PSI politician said interfaith marriages are halal in the Koran.

"I see that those who forbid it are wrong to quote verses from the Koran," said Gun Romli in a YouTube upload to the Cokro TV channel entitled "MARRIAGE OF DIFFERENT RELIGIONS HALAL IN THE QURAN, THIS IS THE verse! I Guntur Romli".

Even Gun Romli said that the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) often forbids things that are halal. The 2005 MUI fatwa which states that interfaith marriages are illegal is illegal.

He then quoted from the Koran Al Maidah verse 5. According to Gun Romli, the only one who decides interfaith marriage is halal or haram is only Allah SWT.

"Who has justified marriage with women from the people of the Book? Allah SWT!" said Gun Romli.
