TANGERANG - A total of 600 animals in Tangerang Regency have been vaccinated. This is done to prevent the spread of Mouth and Nail Disease (FMD).

Head of the Agriculture and Food Security Agency of Tangerang Regency, Asep Jatnika, said that his party received an allocation of animal vaccine doses from the Central Government.

"There are 600 doses (in Tangerang Regency), the allocation from the Central Government. Banten province will get 1100, Tangerang district will get 600,” said Asep when confirmed, Tuesday, June 28.

Even though hundreds have been vaccinated, he admitted that his party is still experiencing a shortage of animal vaccine doses. The reason is that the population in Tangerang Regency is 58 thousand animals.

"There are only 58 thousand population data in Tangerang district, if we only take the male and female, maybe 60 percent of the 58 thousand. So what is needed is approximately 34,800 doses,” he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Agriculture and Livestock Service (Dispertan) Banten Province, Agus Tauchid, for his territory there are 1100 animals that have been vaccinated against animals.

"In total, there are 1100 vaccines in the first phase in Banten Province. We will carry out the second phase after Eid al-Adha," said Agus.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Tangerang, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar, hopes that the vaccine injectors for these animals will be in the region. So it can reduce the spread of FMD.

"For animals, especially cattle and buffalo in Tangerang district, hopefully later the program can continue to minimize the spread of the FMD virus and increase the immunity of livestock in Tangerang district, this is the most important thing," said Zaki.

Furthermore, Zaki reminded qurban traders to immediately report their animals, if there is a suspicion of FMD. So that when the animal is sacrificed the condition is healthy for consumption.

"Report if there is a suspected FMD in the livestock while there is still time for us to give treatment and later it can be done when the sacrifice is really healthy," he concluded.
