JAVA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo asked the local government to activate livestock control posts at regional borders. This step is to reduce the spread of mouth and nail disease (PMK).

This was conveyed by Ganjar after opening the Borobudur Student Festival at Kanisius Borobudur Elementary School, Magelang Regency, Monday 27 June.

"Supervision is not easy enough, because it is quite difficult to control between regions, between districts or the entry and exit of livestock," he said.

Ganjar admits it is not easy to control the flow of livestock traffic. However, anticipatory efforts must still be made, such as registering livestock exposed to FMD to recording the latest cattle buying and selling transactions.

"I ask to make posts to be able to guard cows, livestock that can be affected by FMD, at least they are recorded and we ask for help from cattle traders so that all transactions are reported, where to buy, where to sell, because that will be very helpful. officers," he said.

He reminded breeders and traders not to buy and sell livestock cat and mouse because they are prone to FMD.

Ganjar said that anticipatory measures are not prohibitions but controls on the flow of livestock into an area.

"If the control is good, that's okay, then a livestock control post must be made," he said.

He said, yesterday Central Java received additional PMK vaccine of around 75,000 doses from the Ministry of Agriculture and this week all of them must be injected.

According to him, all cows, all animals that are prone to FMD must be vaccinated against PMK.

"If you want to solve PMK as a whole, then I ask extension workers, breeders, and the community in the village to be able to record all livestock," he said.

Ganjar said that with 75,000 doses of vaccine, it is still not enough, because Central Java Province needs around 2 million vaccines and sick cattle are treated and the trend is actually being treated and recovering, they just need education.
