Impact Of Anies Changing 22 Street Names, Residents Must Change Many Resident Documents, PSI: That's Why Jakarta Needs More Governors

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has changed 22 street names in Jakarta. PSI politician Guntur Romli said the policy made it difficult for residents of the capital city.

According to the man who is familiarly called Gun Romli, it is a burden on the community because the changing of dozens of street names will have an impact on changing the population documents of the residents of the capital city.

This was conveyed by Gun Romli in response to netizens' uploads which showed graphics about the impact of changing 22 street names in Jakarta which resulted in the processing of a lot of population data.

"Wow, there are so many documents that have to be replaced due to changing street names," said Gun Romli on his Twitter account, GunRomli, Sunday, June 26.

Gun Romli said Anies as the leader of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government should rethink his policy of changing street names in the capital city.

In addition to burdening the citizens in terms of costs, he said, changing the policy-impacted documents would also take time.

"Especially those who have to hurry and are forced to use brokers," he said.

Furious with the policy, Gun Romli then considered that what DKI Jakarta needed at this time was not a change in the name of 22 streets but a change in the person sitting in the governor's seat.

"That's why Jakarta needs to change governors, not change street names," he said.

The policy for changing the names of 22 roads in Jakarta is Anies' decision. Anies uses the names of Betawi figures in the name change.

The former Minister of Education and Culture said that the name of the Betawi figure was used as a form of appreciation.

A public policy observer from Trisakti University, Trubus Rahadiansyah, assessed that the changing of street names in Jakarta with the names of Betawi figures was purely political.

Trubus said that if you had to change the name of the street to the names of Betawi figures, there are still many streets in DKI Jakarta if you want to change the name.

"These are only political interests, to raise the political image of Mr. Anies himself, in my opinion," Trubus told VOI, Thursday, June 23.

Previously, the VOI editors had conducted a search to one point in the area affected by Anies' policy in Cililitan, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, Wednesday, June 22.

Residents in the area apparently complained about changing the name of Jalan Budaya to the name of a Betawi figure, namely Jalan Entong Gendut.

The head of RT 04 RW 05 Cililitan, Kramat Jati, Kamal, said the problem was not because of the context of changing street names, but the impact on the management of changing residents' residence documents.

He admitted, the process of changing the name of Jalan Budaya to Jalan Entong Gendut without going through deliberation with local residents.

"KTP changed, SIM changed, KK changed, ID card changed, STNK changed, BPKB changed, that's bound to change and it takes time and money, of course, to take care of that," said Kamal.
