ACEH - The Aceh Embarkation Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) stated that pilgrims from Aceh who were already in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, began to receive Baitul Asyi waqf funds of 1,500 riyals or an amount greater than the previous year.

Coordinator of Public Relations and Information PPIH Embarkation Aceh Tajri bin Yakub said the distribution began with the handing over of Baitul Asyi funds to 391 Pilgrims of Pilgrimage Group 5, Wednesday, June 22 yesterday by Sheikh Abullatif Baltou as nazir of waqf.

"The fifth batch of Aceh Hajj pilgrims have received Baitul Asyi waqf funds at the hotel where the pilgrims are staying. Tomorrow, they will continue to the next batch, batch six," said Tajri in Banda Aceh, Antara, Thursday, June 23.

For the sixth batch, he said, the Baitul Asyi money will be distributed this Friday by Abdurrahman Abdullah Asyi. When receiving the funds, each pilgrim must show the Baitul Asyi card which is distributed at the Hajj hostel before departure to Saudi Arabia.

According to a report from the Baitul Asyi official in Mecca, Jamaluddin Affan, said Tajri, the compensation for the Baitul Asyi waqf for the Aceh Hajj pilgrims in 2022 is 1,500 Saudi Arabian riyals, or around Rp. 5.9 million.

The provision of Baitul Asyi funds for Acehnese pilgrims this year has increased compared to the previous hajj season, in 2019.

"Alhamdulillah, the distribution of Habib Bugak Asyi's waqf money this year has increased, which is 1,500 riyals per congregation. In 2019, each Acehnese haj congregation received 1,200 riyals," he said.

This Baitul Asyi waqf is Habib Bugak Asyi's waqf, which is now called Baitul Asyi waqf or Aceh house waqf. This waqf, which is more than 200 years old, was once a small waqf.

However, over time, this waqf continues to develop into productive waqf in the form of land, lodging, and other business units in Mecca, even in the vicinity of the Grand Mosque.

This waqf fund is always given to every pilgrim from the province nicknamed the Veranda of Mecca when performing the pilgrimage.
