YOGYAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Haedar Nashir appealed to the public to choose healthy livestock to be slaughtered during Eid al-Adha 1443 Hijriah.
"It is better if the cows for sacrifice, as well as those slaughtered for consumption purposes, are really healthy. Because later the impact will not be good for health," said Haedar at the PP Muhammadiyah office, Yogyakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 22.
In making sacrifices, Haedar asked the public to comply with the requirements according to Islamic law, which include livestock that are not sick.
"We also urge the general public to sacrifice and slaughter healthy sacrificial animals that comply with the requirements and are not sick," he said.
In order for the distribution of sacrificial animals to reach various regions, according to him, the community can also channel some of their wealth to buy sacrificial animals through the Zakat Infaq and Shadaqah Muhammadiyah (LazisMu) Institute.
"For our brothers who have excess assets, we Muhammadiyah also continue to mobilize it through LazisMu. And many also entrust it through LazisMU. To spread sacrificial animals in the midst of a pandemic like this," he said.
Haedar also advised that differences that might occur in the determination of Eid al-Adha would not cause problems.
Muhammadiyah itself has set Eid al-Adha 1443 Hijri to fall on July 9, 2022.
"Whether it's the same or maybe different, we hope it won't be a problem," said Haedar Nasir.
