Indonesian Navy Foils The Smuggling Of 29 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine From Malaysia In Asahan Waters, North Sumatra

MEDAN - The Indonesian Navy thwarted the smuggling of 29 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 60,000 ecstasy pills that were brought from Malaysia to Indonesia by sea, to be exact in Asahan Waters, North Sumatra.

Commander of the Fleet Command I Rear Admiral Arsyad Abdullah said his party helped secure the two suspects in the disclosure of the case.

"The two suspects have the initials S and RS, residents of Tanjungbalai City," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, June 22.

Arsyad explained that the disclosure of this case began with information on drug smuggling from Malaysia through Asahan Waters.

From this information, on June 21, 20219 the Fleet One Quick Response (F1QR) Team of the Indonesian Navy at Tanjungbalai Asahan Base (Lanal TBA) conducted a sea patrol and found a suspicious Kaluk canoe.

"As a result of the examination, we found 29 packets of crystal methamphetamine and 12 packets containing 60,000 ecstasy pills hidden in the fiber of the fish box along with two suspects," he said.

Based on the results of the interrogation, the two suspects claimed to have received orders from a person with the initials F to pick up the drugs in the middle of the sea at a predetermined point.

"For further legal proceedings, we have submitted the case to the BNN of North Sumatra Province," he said.
