Reported To Polda Metro And Bareskrim Problem Stupa Meme, Roy Suryo Says This

JAKARTA - The former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Roy Suryo responded to two reports against him regarding the meme of the Borobudur Temple stupa that resembles the face of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He said he would follow the legal process according to the rules.

"Yes, I followed the legal process," said Roy Suryo to VOI, Tuesday, June 21.

However, Roy was reluctant to comment when it was mentioned further about the two reports. He left it entirely to his legal team.

"Just go straight to the attorney," he said.

Separately, Roy Suryo's attorney, Pitra Romadoni said he would entrust the legal process to the police. However, the police should be able to process the reports that had been done at the Polda Metro Jaya first.

The report is registered with Number LP/B/2970/VI/2022/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya. In which, the three Twitter accounts that became the reported parties.

"So that we don't repeat the same case. Our reports should be processed first, so that there are no mistakes and misunderstandings," said Pitra.

Meanwhile, Roy Suryo was reported to the Polda Metro Jaya and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police regarding the meme of the Borobudur Temple stupa that resembles the face of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

The reason for the report was because Roy Suryo's upload was considered harassing Buddhists. This is because the image of the stupa in the meme has a religious symbol, namely, the Buddha.

Reporting against Roy Suryo at Polda Metro Jaya is registered with number LP/B/3042/VI/2022/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya, dated June 20, 2022.

Meanwhile, for reporting at the Bareskrim, the Polri is registered with LP/B/0293/VI/2022/SPKT/BARESKRIM, dated June 20.

In both reports, Roy Suryo is suspected of violating Article 45 A (2) in conjunction with Article 28 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning ITE and/or Article 156a of the Criminal Code.
