MAMUJU - Six provinces and 41 districts/cities signed a commitment pact related to the support for the acceleration of the development of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).

The Ministry of Home Affairs' Director General (Dirjen) of Regional Autonomy who is also the Acting Governor of West Sulawesi Akmal Malik was the initiator of the signing of the commitment pact in Mamuju, Monday, June 20.

According to Akmal Malik, in the perspective of regional autonomy policy, collaboration and synergy between local governments is necessary to support the acceleration of IKN development.

This, he continued, was a form of initiative and participation from local governments around the Makassar Strait to support President Joko Widodo's policies.

"The real manifestation of the initial stage of local government support to synergize and collaborate in accelerating the development of this IKN is by signing this commitment pact," said Akmal Malik as quoted by Antara.

Regional autonomy, he said, must bring togetherness, community, and strengthen the spirit of national and state unity and integrity.

"The collaboration that has been built in supporting IKN is a form of real autonomy spirit," said Akmal Malik.

Six provinces also signed the commitment pact to support the acceleration of IKN development, namely the Acting Governor of West Sulawesi Akmal Malik, Deputy Regent of Paser Syarifah Nasitah Assegaf who represented the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and the South Sulawesi Provincial Government represented by Assistant for Government and Welfare Andi Aslam Patonangi.

In other regions, the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan was represented by the Head of Bappeda Ariadi Noor, Assistant for Economics and Development Rudi Dewanto represented the Provincial Government of Central Sulawesi and North Kalimantan, represented by the Assistant for Economics and Development.

The West Sulawesi Provincial Government itself is preparing a number of infrastructures to support the development and operational activities in the IKN area, including continuing to encourage the presence of direct flights from Mamuju to Balikpapan, Kalimantan.

In addition, as a buffer zone, especially in terms of providing construction materials, Akmal Malik encourages regulations for the issuance of mining business permits that are fast but still pay attention to environmental aspects.

"It's easy but also prioritizes the good for the people of West Sulawesi in general," said Akmal Malik.
