PAMEKASAN - Head of the Agriculture and Livestock Food Security Agency (DKPPP) of the Pamekasan Regency Government, Ajib Abdullah, stated that some of the cows belonging to local residents who had been sick were known to have tested positive for an outbreak of mouth and nail disease (PMK).

"This is based on the results of laboratory tests conducted by the Yogyakarta Veterinary Center," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, June 20.

However, Ajib admitted that he did not know for sure how many cows were positive for PMK, because he had not received the notification data directly.

"Clearly, there are positive PMK," said Ajib.

Previously, the Pamekasan Regency Government sent as many as 10 blood samples from cows that were sick and with symptoms such as an epidemic of mouth and hoof disease to the Yogyakarta Veterinary Center.

The cow blood sample was taken in Proppo District, Pamekasan, which is one of 13 sub-districts in Pamekasan Regency.

Based on the results of the laboratory examination from the Yogyakarta Veterinary Center, now Pamekasan Regency has entered the district that was hit by the FMD outbreak.

Previously, Pamekasan Regency was one of 15 regencies/cities in East Java that was included in the green zone for the spread of the FMD outbreak. However, with the findings of the positive case, Pamekasan Regency, including the district, was infected with the FMD outbreak.

Symptomatic sick cows such as PMK in Pamekasan initially attacked resident cows in two sub-districts, namely in Kadur District and Larangan District.

In its development, cows belonging to sick residents are increasingly widespread, in almost all sub-districts, including in Proppo, Pakong and several other sub-districts in Pamekasan.
